Heinz Fadle is trombone professor at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, Germany. His publications include Looking for the Natural Way (Piccolo-Verlag 1996), “Musizieren” (Verlag Die Blaue Eule 1999) and articles on instrumental techniques, teaching and learning. He was founder/president of IPV (Internationale Posaunenvereinigung) in Germany and served as president of I.T.A. His international invitations as teacher/lecturer led him to U.S.A., Russia, Kazachstan, Great Britain and Hungary. He hosted the 1st Posaunensymposium in Germany and the 21st ITW (International Trombone Workshop) in Detmold. Internationally, he served on competition juries such as Prague Spring, Prestiges des Cuivres, Toulon and Markneukirchen. For 22 years he was solo trombonist of the Philharmonic States Orchestra Hamburg, a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and guested with orchestras e.g. Berliner Philharmoniker, Radio Sinfonie Hamburg, Münchner Staatsoper and Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin.
In 2000 he received the prestigious I.T.A. Award and became a contributor to the Oxford University Press publication, The Science and Psychology of Music Performance: Creative Strategies for Teaching and Learning by R. Parncutt & G.E. McPherson, Oxford University Press, New York. His trombone ensemble, TROMBONLY, has released one successful CD, with a second due to appear in July 2002.
